If someone would have told me years ago that I would be wearing a floral dress one day, I would still be laughing to this day. Now, I feel like I may need an intervention. When I was really young I remember associating floral patterns with little old ladies in rocking chairs pinching unsuspecting cheeks. Clothes and styles have some such a long way since then and I am here for it and actually just posted another great floral spring outfit recently.
Another reason why I, and likely many others, shied away from floral outfits was there was always this feeling as though I needed to be in solid colors because I wasn’t a size 0. Maybe it was just my perception, maybe it was my own insecurities, maybe it was society, but I did honestly feel that way back in the days of being a size 8 or 10. Well, those days are over. As I’ve gotten older, had two children, I have been many sizes ranging from an 8 through my current size 16. I’m not saying go bonkers with the patterns, I’m saying life is just too short to put yourself into a tiny fashion box.
Why I Like This Floral Dress
What stood out to me about this dress was that it was black. I styled it with a pink jean jacket with a longer cut and more square for the first look. For the second look I paired it with a short black bolero jacket. You could wear the first look with flats or strappy sandals for a really breezy daytime look. The black bolero jacket with some black high-heel sandals would be perfect for date night! I’m always a shoe in for versatility.
Fit & Flexibility:
When I buy a dress as a woman with a larger chest, I want the flexibility of changing the strap length depending upon the type of undergarments I’m wearing. Some bras just fit differently and I like to be able to change loosen or tighten the straps. This dress has thin straps, but they are adjustable so that is a win!
This dress fit very nicely on the top, again with the adjustable straps, but also around the waist. The bottom has two layers of flowy material so it is not see-through or clingy. I really like\ that it has lace detailing at the bottom.
For reference, I’m 5’2 and wearing a size 1 (14-16). This is a midi dress for me, but if you are taller it may hit at just under or at your knees.
I hope you enjoyed reading this and tell me what your thoughts are on floral…yay or nay?
