Black and White Summer Fashion Finds
Black and White Gingham Wrap Dress
I must have been on a black and white kick fashion the other day at JCPenny because I think everything I tried on was some form of black and white gingham. Gingham happens to be a favorite, but I usually tend to go for blue and white. Not the other day my friends. I was on the hunt for shorts when I saw the top of this little gingham black and white faux wrap dress peeking out of the rack.
Since the dress wasn’t exactly what I was there for I naturally had to buy it. It fits great, it’s stretchy, and the waistband is really comfortable. It is a a faux wrap dress in that it looks like a traditional wrap, but is actually a cinched stretch waistband that doesn’t cut into you, but just brings in the dress so you can show your curves. This dress is versatile in that I could pair it with these St. Johns Bay black sandals or add some jewelry, heels, and dressy purse to schnazz is up.
Black and White Gingham Top
I finally made it to the shorts section and found these great Boutique twill flat front shorts. The inseam is really the key to these working for my body type because I’m short and I don’t want really long shorts to the knee and I also don’t want to have shorts that are too short. These shorts have 7″ inseam and I’m 5’2.
This embroidered gingham top was calling my name because I could wear it so many different ways. The top has blue embroidered flowers and cut out bell sleeves. I bought it to go with either the blue or black shorts with sandals or with some white jeans and heels for a dressier look. Again, it’s all about getting pieces that you can wear several different ways.
(Update: This exact top has sold out, but if you click the image it will take you to a very similar top.)
I bought these Boutique Twill shorts in blue too because the fit was so good. The shorts I’m wearing in the picture are black and they come in three colors – navy, black, and white.
The sandals I’m wearing with both outfits were also at JCPenny and were on sale. The nude sandals have really cute cutouts, ankle closure straps, wedges, and a zip back. The black sandals have a pewter-tone metal on them with a wedge heel, zip back, and ankle buckle closures. Both are extremely comfortable and very soft.
